I am still amazed by this whole story. I am still amazed by what has happened in my life the last 6 months. There are just things in this life that happen and you have to stand back, soak it in, accept it, and don’t ask questions.
As many of you know, my Husband suffered a serious unexpected health crisis back in March at the age of 51. Our life came to a screeching halt. Everything as we knew it was going to change and we had to learn a completely new way of life. We have went down a long road of trials and huge tests of faith (you can read “17 Days” on my blog to hear our story) and as we become stronger everyday we can begin to see in a clearer vision of how blessed we really are. Even through all the bad.. we ARE blessed. Sometimes God has to show us that in little ways in our daily life. Sometimes we see it…sometimes not, but it’s there… and hopefully we have our eyes and hearts open to soak up the love and hope there for us.
Most people wouldn’t have thought much of these flowers and how they came about. Especially if you don’t know a whole lot about gardening. Now I am no HGTV expert but I have done my share of gardening over the years and I had a Grandmother who taught me a lot! 🙂
In the Spring of 2015 we had just moved to Tennessee the last August, and this was my first Spring to plant in my new yard and new climate. We are originally from up north so I knew I had lots to learn about planting in all this heat!
And boy did I get a shock about just how HOT it is and how difficult it is to keep things watered! I learned pretty quickly what to plant again and what to not. Some of my favorites from my old house just can’t take the heat here. But I still had sooooooooo many flowers that adorned my new yard and I enjoyed every minute of it!
As Winter started to finally come around…(well it’s no northern Winter but it does snow a little and it gets pretty cold) I had to winterize my gardens and my pots as always. Everything was cleaned up, cut, pulled, and put in their proper place. Not to be thought of again until Spring when you start all over again.
When we finally came home from the hospital that next Spring I would occasionally grab a glimpse of my flower pots and my pitiful flower beds. I just sighed and went on with our new life of major adjustments and trying to keep my husband healthy. That took up all my time but I gladly did it and would do it again. The house and yard suffered but my husband was alive, our kids were healthy, we had a roof over our head and food on the table so all that stuff just took a backseat.
One day as I went outside to sweep up the porch a little I noticed some green in a couple of my pots. I just figured it was weeds because the pots have just sat there with dirt in them all Winter and now part of Spring. I kind of just ignored it.
Then I kept noticing it more and more and in more pots. Those of you who know me, know how I LOVE my flowers…and it was a bit strange not to have any planted. I thought, well that looks terrible.. I don’t want weeds growing out of all these pots. That makes it even worse. So I was just going to pull them all when I noticed as I got closer that those were no weeds! I was like.. “No way!!!” It was ALL flowers coming up and ready to start blooming! Not perennials…the kind that you plant once and they come up every year… they were the annuals I planted LAST year and pulled out of all the pots for winter! I did absolutely nothing to make this happen. I have no greenhouse or seeds or anything. And in all my years.. probably 30.. of gardening, I have never had this happen.
And it just kept going from there! I had enough flowers in my yard to create the pretty I love and it brought so much joy to my heart.
I have testified to all that will listen that God did this. He saw a need and He filled it. I will always believe this was divine intervention and God’s way of telling me it will all be ok. Every time I look at these “angel” flowers I believe that. God is good and we are blessed.
Until next time.. be a blessing.. share a blessing.. be blessed 🙂 xoxo
