I am often asked, “WHY do you love dishes so much?” The funny thing is…I just DO and I have never really put into words as to why!

I’m trying to remember when my love affair with dishes began. Growing up I was always fascinated by a pretty set table. I always looked forward to holidays with my aunt and my grandmother not only because they set a beautiful table, but because I was also VERY interested in all the cooking and baking as well! ALWAYS delicious!!

Full disclosure, I have always been a HUGE fan of Martha Stewart. As soon as I discovered her, I was AMAZED by her…I wanted to BE her! To this day, people who know me always call me “Martha Stewart” and I still find that to be a huge compliment! I was so fascinated with how she just knew EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING! I often wondered if she was even REAL LOL!

Then, Sandra Lee came along! The semi-homemade era! The queen of the themed table! ALWAYS with a signature cocktail! “Cocktail Time!!!” I think that was when I became obsessed with all the details behind setting the most perfect table! Always a theme, always a well laid out plan! And… with that plan came the biggest decision of all… WHAT dishes do I use?????

I honestly haven’t met a dish that I didn’t love! When I see a new pattern or come across a vintage set while thrifting, my adrenaline kicks into overdrive! My husband always laughs at me! Especially when a Pfaltzgraff shipment arrives, and I get so excited! I can’t wait to open the box! I can’t wait to feel the glaze, test the weight, match it with other patterns! The artist in me starts to generate thoughts of all types of tablesettings and color palettes… centerpieces and flowers! I LITERALLY can never WAIT to get started!! I think I could play with dishes and set tables all day every day!!! I have issues… hee hee 🙂

So, as you visit my social media pages and you see all my “creations” you know now it’s not just a bunch of fluff or just a sales pitch to sell dishes…it’s a TRUE love. Dishes remind me of the family table…of togetherness…of good food…friends and laughter. They are the glue, the tie, the FOUNDATION of the table and of table design. Where would we be without them? Well… probably still eating off of rocks and tree stumps… BUT… wait… hold on… THAT would make a GREAT tablescape! 🙂 🙂
